ApologyPoetry

Red lizard on my shoulder
Spiky scales to stab
A hole in love balloon;
A slow deflate
I didn’t mean
Such a sin
If pure purpose was
And indeed came first?
A catalyst
To amplify reaction;
Is the precipitate
Any different?
A wanted action, yet
Intention changed
But what changed not
Is your e’er fixèd mark
That mark upon heart -
Can such permanence spoil
If forbidden fruit
Indulged?
Apology for my humanity
For sin in which
I don’t believe
An evil not yet committed
But owed for taking
Within the mind
That which we have
So willingly set aside

wow. This is a very touchy subject. Is thought a sin? Humans are a complex bunch and I think it will take 2000 MORE centuries
to even begin to explain any one of them. Primal instinct is a very hard thing to supress. Even with centuries of civilization.
Well written and very provocative.

Touchy? Yes, but also very topical. We
are built to procreate and that drive, that
need is in all of us. The real question of
lust comes in how each of us respond
to our natures and what our belief system
is. That being said...you never escape it.
This was a cleverly written and thought
provoking piece and I applaud you for it.
Great job, and thanks for sharing it!
Be well,

This poem deals with the reality of lust. I like it because in many ways lust is something done with our minds, yet never acted upon. It explains what lust is, and yet is still portrays an apologetic tone for the cerebral action. |
