Destined

Contributed by Loende on Friday, 9th April 2010 @ 05:18:11 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I put this in Life Poetry, because it didn't really seem to fit in Love and Romantic. It IS about love, but mayhap more of the darker side of it. Enjoy ~dawn

"Love is as much of an object as an obsession, everybody wants it, everybody seeks it, but few ever achieve it, those who do will cherish it, be lost in it, and among all, never... never forget it." ~ Curtis Judalet

~**~

It weaves through the darkness, like smoke
Insidious in its intent
Persistent in its determination

It seeks the weak points, the frayed ones
Where effort is no longer necessary
And it slips unseen and unnoticed

Then once you breathe in the first breath,
The choice is taken from you
Your will is no longer your own

It wraps around you, becomes you
Until every move is foreign
To the person you once were

And once inhaled, there is no going back
Not that you would choose to lose
The wonder and awe it can bring

From that point, you are under its spell
Destined to fly on its wingspan
Until you plummet to the ground

~**~

This defies definition my dear. There is so much truth in it. It's very scary, this thing called love. And when does one actually know? It's hard to say. Infatuation can be a very powerful thing. But love. . oh LOVE! Now that is worth losing sleep over. Even worth the plummet to the ground you mentioned. This was wonderfully written. Your descriptions are profound. I tend to believe the definition for love is different depending on which stage you are in, yes? Your words give such a delicate touch to the meanings here, though. (Even if somewhat melancholy) :)

take care ,

Seléne ~

A wonderful write about such an intricate emotion but you have done it in fine form and it is a joy to read your words again. A different take on this powerful mystery and your words breathe something new to latch onto. Great write Dawn.

take care'

Ya' know, for a very long time I think you've summed up love quite clearly and quite concisely with your quote you've been using for seems eons now: "Love chooses us, whether we will it or not." I've always been impressed with that statement and that perspective and found you quite wise using it.

The you go a write this poem which reaffirms what I have thought of you for some time now. You are very wise and very intelligent...and hell quite the poetess / philosopher!!! I don't think I have met anyone who can describe love better.

You never stop amazing me or impressing me.

As a man I still empathise with your beautiful and accurate description of infatuation transcending to love then tragically losing its essence. A most beautiful write. Thank you.x.Aliopterix

It may be the darker side of love you write about, but it still spills of the addictive beauty of that most wondrous feeling. This is beautiful even if it isn't trying to be.

Let's hope for a long flight. ;)
