Cold Case Love

Contributed by Alexa_Bachtel on Friday, 9th April 2010 @ 06:30:50 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

You didn't wanna hear
What I was saying,
Though I was damn right
In so many different ways,
When I was telling you
About those things
I would never dare
To confess before, baby.

But it was you
Who made me go this way, you know.
I was hiding the tears
Not only from you, but everyone,
Got caught up in the pretending
That I was doing all right,
But it wasn't true,
Though it was that hard to confess.
And admit that you're already
So yesterday (yesterday).

I have been thinking
Bout it so many many times,
Going, coming, getting some serious thoughts,
And accepting you with flaws and all
As I did a million times before,
Cos I have never listened
To the whisper of my heart,
That kept on telling me
It was cold about you,
But it seems like time has come to close
This cold case love.
Time has come to close
This cold case love.

All of the evidence got burned,
Also the aches got blown by the wind,
So I have got nothing to give the jury,
Cos you washed your hands clean of this.
You got me all alone with the feeling of shame,
For I ain't ready yet to get up and say
That you are so yesterday...

I have been thinking
Bout it so many many times,
Going, coming, getting some serious thoughts,
And accepting you with flaws and all
As I did a million times before,
Cos I have never listened
To the whisper of my heart,
That kept on telling me
It was cold about you,
But it seems like time has come to close
This cold case love.
Time has come to close
This cold case love.

The frank recognition won't help anymore,
Cos I got sentenced to life for an unlucky love,
No evidence, no witnesses and accusation's faked,
Without the lawyer to plead my case.
To punish not to pardon
Without the right to commas
That's what the jury said...
That's what the jury said...

I have been thinking
Bout it so many many times,
Going, coming, getting some serious thoughts,
And accepting you with flaws and all
As I did a million times before,
Cos I have never listened
To the whisper of my heart,
That kept on telling me
It was cold about you,
But it seems like time has come to close
This cold case love.
Time has come to close
This cold case love.
Whoa..
Cold case love...

I truly enjoyed this poem! It has great detail and the use of repetition is quite effective. I like the great metaphor you used also. It also has a great amount of pain that anyone who has had a broken heart could relate to. Great poem!
