my mom
would
nap
long
into the
afternoon.
not upon
the
couch
or
chaise lounge
but
in bed
with full
darkness
abound.
hard drapes
pulled
together.
heavy shades
pulled
down.
just as
at
night.
i believe she did this
to
conserve
and
replenish
her strength.
they have
new names
for
long
afternoon naps.
... clinical.
i will always remember
her
as
my
remarkable
mom !
... who liked to
nap.

Hi,
As I said before - filial love expressed in simple verse.
Nice one.

oooo ... along with a depth of affinity, there is a touchiness to this piece. Almost like something that cannot be said aloud. But we remember with nostalgia, the "remarkable" ness, you know? Wonderfully written. Without being overwhelming, it gently commands the reader to trace the memory of their own mother. Well done, poet.
