YOU ARE NESTLED BETWEEN TWO LARGE TOWNS IN THE NORTHERN MOST PARISH OF JAMAICA. LOVELY TERRAIN AND THE RESIDENTS CASUAL WAYS MADE LIVING HERE A PLEASANT DEPARTURE FROM THE USUAL FLOW OF THINGS.
I VIVIDLY RECALL SCHOOL CHILDREN PLAYING GLEEFULLY ALONG MEANDERING ROADS IN YOUTHFUL ABANDON AND QUITE OFTEN IN GENTLE RAIN. THE SUGARCANE GREW SO HIGH THAT IT LOOKED LIKE IMPOSING FIGURES AT DUSK AND DAWN.
CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE SEA ADDED ANOTHER DIMENSION TO YOUR RUSTIC CHARM AND EQUALLY CALM NATURE. MARKET DAY TOOK ON A CARNIVAL LIKE ATMOSPHERE. THE SMELL OF FRESH FOOD WAS CONSTANT. MANY EMBRACES WERE EXCHANGED WHICH SEEMED TO SERVE AS A PRELUDE TO THE DAY OF WORSHIP.
