a ghost poem

last night as i slept my dreams made light of life that i know
no horror there sown in my core
for once all was calm,
to my heart came no harm; for my mind was still
still, like a moon lit pool.
Then torn from my rest where my slumber wore silk
by a sound softly built from the sneck of my door,
there it rattled back and forth, as i turned my gaze it paused,
it paused but it breathed.
Through the dark id bearly see, but i felt it come to me.
slowly. the breathing and the padding of its footsteps on my floor.
And then it was there; it was there in my bed
under sheets gently spread, not an inch from my skin
i wait...
nothing. nothing now, perhaps it would go,
or i would wake up to no demons nor ghost.
I relax as i wait, my relief lets me breath.
but still as i heave, it then speaks to me,
a voice weak and thin from there in my bed
all that it said was "one of us..is dead"
