The end of loves delight

Consume me, love, entertain my hearts respite
The dregs of life embitter me,
The end of loves delight
Falls into the sea
Of wrath and mire
Mislead me, love, defend my eyes desire
My hands are set in stone,
My eyes will lift no higher
My heart will sail alone
Along this thundering storm
Forgive me, love, undo this tangled form
My words cannot linger long
Upon this tattered form
Of withered and hollow song—
The end of love and loves delight

While this didn't strike a chord with me emotionally, the rhythm and tone you focus on are mesmerizing in that they seem so complicated and yet so simple at once. There's something in the superficiality of the words that speaks of great depth. Great work, really. |
