Mouthful of nickels and dimes,
Making up for the all the apologies
I never said
Regurgitating in cash flow
All the debt I’ve owed
Love is a bunch of pluses and minuses
Not like we’re keeping score
Just making up for borrowed time
Making good on promises
We promised to never keep
Cashing in on lottery tickets
We never bought,
Because somehow
Love pays dividends
Short on cash,
We can always find more
It grows on trees
We planted with tiny little words
In a world where smiles
And hugs and kisses are currency,
Where you mean the world to me,
I’m a rich man.

I really enjoy the imagery you have used in this write. Unique and clever it works quite well and it was great to read.
In a world where smiles
And hugs and kisses are currency,
Where you mean the world to me,
I’m a rich man.
I really like those lines and this is well written.
take care

Oh wow. I LOVE this metaphor. What a beautiful way to describe that which money CAN NOT buy! You have such an exceptional way with words.
Well done, poet!
