Into the Night

Into the Night

~***~***~

I can feel you, even now
still a part of me
Still holding my shattered pieces
In careful, gentle hands
Where we can reassemble my heart
Into something that will beat again
Together, as we use to do all things

For something held this long,
Such trials are expected
We have been weighed by the ages
Judged by our ancestors
And found worthy of this gift,
That through heartache endured
Forgiveness builds and trust is restored

It is in layers that love is built,
Not idle daydreams built in the clouds.
Layers that strengthen us, together and apart
Where experience has taught us to dance
(To our very own song)
Slow, strong and steady, into the night.

You hold me, Beloved, hold my heart
Even now, still unfinished, still flawed
You handle me with such care
Cherished, protected, all through the night
Where I am sometimes still haunted
(still hunted)
It is these moments that strengthen me
And allow me to believe in magic

My dear Loende, this split me in two. There is so much power and passion inside your words and they hold this comfort-- a comfort that a soul could and very likely would die for. Your last stanza felt so close to my very own heart that I could swear I saw myself disappear within its essence. This was just immensely beautiful. The night time can be such a wondrous place. Gorgeous post. Hope you are well.

Another fantastic write! So much passion and delivery in your words that this just flows as a constant piece.

"It is in layers that love is built,
Not idle daydreams built in the clouds"

This is beautiful. To me there appears to be a message hidden within another message. Love, like anything so special takes a lifetime to build and should last forever.

Thank you for sharing this piece.

Lovely sentiments, spoken from the heart. You held me captive right from the beginning line. That third stanza is really special.
Well done.
