Glorious was the Master bathed in light,
Spirit-driven seemed the clouds to dance,
The Lord's garments shone in brilliant white,
Dazzling light shone on His countenance.
By Him stood celestial company,
Moses with the tablets of the Law,
While Elia's uttered prophesy,-
The disciples lay prostrate in awe.
Company from the celestial sphere,
From the cloud was heared: "This is my son-
"My beloved son to Him give ear,"
"High Priest non-pareil and champion".
Silence reverent now filled the air,
As the clouds took on subdued a hue,
Brightness changed to humdrum ordinaire,
And the sky took on a sullen hue.
Changed the scene now was - sobriety, -
Normalcy of life of every day,
Gone was the glory, thrall and extasy,
Still the voice - that had no more to say.
But the Spirit whispered: "Implement!"
What you saw before to bring forth fruit,"
"Imitate the Son Obedient -
Take up patiently the blessed rood."
