Et tu, Brute?

Pillars tumbling
In reddened mist
Just as I thought impenetrable
A slow stumbling death
In quiet theatrics
Again and again
A fallen faith,
An empire crash
Never thought you’d dare
The beloved hold the sharpest knives
Knowing every hole in armor,
The best way to slice the pie of mind,
A steaming dessert of divided dignity
Careful, baby, who you let hold you
Check the arms for signs of cactus
A handhold full of porcupine
A face etched with traitor
A heart replete with lie

Very nice imagery, I can really relate to what you're saying. Sometimes the person you'd least expect is the one that ends up hurting the most... I guess you can never be sure until they actually act on what they truly think and feel.
Thanks for sharing. |
