I let my fingers drag
They caress the smooth polish
I can’t bear to look
Not into those eyes
That were once so loving
So caring
My trance is broken by a sob
I look back at my sister and mom
With tears rolling down their cheeks
This just makes me stiffer
I can’t look into anybody’s eyes
I’m afraid of crying
The drive home was worse
I didn’t talk
Only stared
Stared at everything
Finally in my room
I lock the door
And let it loose
I’ll never see my grandpa again
I’ve been preparing for this
This unwelcome day
It is harder than I ever dreamt
