The Apparition

The black cat crossed the road
Because he’d seen a frog or toad
They are interesting things to view
The colour is a very green hew
The cat’s eyes are very keen
To see the movement that he had seen
The movement had been very slight
Picked up, by the cars headlight
The driver could not under stand
The cat’s eyes had crossed the road
To go and visit the frog or toad
The driver stopped the little car
And looked for the cat or frog or toad
That had been the distraction on the road
He walked back to where they had been
But nothing there could be seen
Someone had seen from afar
The driver get out from the little car
And look upon the old dirt road
For the cat the frog or little toad
Many times drivers stopped to find
Nothing had been left behind
The ghosts they’d seen along the road
Was the black cat, frog or little toad
Was it curiosity that killed the cat?
Or was it the car or frog or toad
Or was it a truck with a heavy load
The driver of the heavy load
Had not seen the cat or frog or little toad
As he traveled along the old dirt road
