The Evening News blares through my ears, all the world's thoughts, their fears.
Shining from this grey box, a portrait of humanity staring from the corner of my room.
Past, Present, Future, it's all there on display.
Populating the air with outdated ideas and ideals.
I hear the Anchor as he speaks of disasters and famine, then a quick cross to the weather.
They begin to talk of explosions, of hijacks, of downright corruption, then a quick switch for the sport scores.
Here's some public interest to interest the public.
Review the war, tell us of the deaths but remind us it's so Damn righteous.
Morals, they become so one sided, That's not Moral, is it?
A bright smile and red lips promise us more than she ever could, a positive outlook, a positive spin.
A cat in a tree, that should suffice.
Hand to the Remote, Finger to the power button.
The light subsides, the silence is overbearing. If only the mind had a killswitch to eradicate these constant thoughts.
The TV still glows from use as the standby light looks to me unknowingly.
This black screen will forever tell more than anything else ever could.
This silence is crucial. This silence is what we need.
