The Final Beatitude

Contributed by venkat on Saturday, 12th April 2003 @ 06:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

I am neither mind nor intellect, nor ego
I am neither ether nor earth nor fire nor air
Neither life breath nor the sense organs
Nor organs of action nor the components of body I am
I have no aversion, no attachment
No greed no delusion and no envy or pride
And no desire or clinging to any object of attraction
I have no virtue no vice no pleasure or pain
I am neither enjoyable nor enjoyer nor the enjoyment
I have no death; no fear no father no mother and
No friend or any relation and no master or slave
I am Siva, the supreme self of universe
And the soul of bliss and consciousness
I am the changeless one, formless and all pervading
Not touched by any feelings of mind or heart
I have no attachment with the actions of the body or mind
I am neither freedom of thought nor the slavery of heart
I am Siva, the supreme self of universe
And the soul of bliss and consciousness-

Dear Friend, This is a beautiful piece of poetry, but beyond my human understanding.
I suppose there are many aspects of my reli-gion that are beyond my understanding, too, but the teachings are familiar to me. This one of yours is foreign to me. Please don't let that stop you from writing of it. Bizzy

Thank you Bizzy, for your kind comment. Actually this poem is based on a Sanskrit poem written by great spiritual teacher " Adi Sankaracharya" of 6th century A.D. I should have mentioned the source of the poem in my foot note. I believe in monism which was advocated by "Adi Sankara". I treat him as my spiritual Guru. Thanks for your comment. venkat

i am not of the identical faith, however, through reading your writings, it seems our faiths are similar... i do understand this precious bit of prose... as always, an eloquent and well written piece of work from an educated and spiritual poet... blessings... michele

(by the way, dear friend, i have been offline for a week or so... personal matters, however i am fine... you are a true gem... i shall PM you soon with details...)

Immense. In the face of such contemplation that is all I can say. If I had come by another path I might have been less over-awed.
