Drunkard Abandonment
A collage of memories and sentiments packed his head,
incited by the alcohol which engulfed him.
Teetering upon his lawn, bemused and anguished.
Dottie!
Three years she had stomached his abuse.
A destructive tyrant,
whose words had lacerated every fiber of her core.
The man she formerly loved,
waning daily,
now nothing more than a mist.
She could take no more.
Dottie!!
Once a symbol of refuge,
he had become the very icon of fear.
Timidly she interacted with him,
oblivious as to when daddy would cease and the monster would return.
Preceded by her brother,
she too,
decided to live with mother.
Dottie!!!
Staggering into the street,
he fell upon his knees,
commencing to curse God for being so cruel and unfair.
For he had searched all morning,
and now,
even his dog was no longer there.

I can't imagine why anyone would criticize you for this. It smacks of honesty to me and I appreciate that.
I really liked: "now nothing more than a mist." |
