This Journey Called Life

As I walk along this journey, one that we call life
One that has been filled with pain, sorrow, and daily strife

I look all around me and I know I am not alone
Whether it is triumphs or trails, many blessings have been shown

One blessing I am referring to is an angel here on earth,
Someone God hand-picked for me to give my life a re-birth

He used her ministry here on earth as a doctor for His glory,
I am certain she had no idea she would be part of my story

A doctor who was just searching to help find a cure
To rid my body of all the toll and pain I had endured,

So gentle, so humble, and loving to all
It was very clear she had heard her call

Years of triumph, pain, and tears we have cried
Many conversations we had and continued to wonder why

Why I had to suffer and endure so much pain
But hope we both had and knew there was more to gain

Through hard times and good times she was there to rejoice
And in the midst of it all I prayed God would use my voice

A doctor, a confident, slowly became a dear friend
With her encouragement, her prayers, my healing began.

Over the past several months God has bonded our souls
“Coincidence” one might call it, but we know God’s real goal

A relationship with Christ that only comes from within,
When we repent our sins and invite him in

How do I describe, how do I began to share
How God has joined our paths and brought us here

I have wrestled; I have fought and tried this all on my own*
To not lean on others and let my weaknesses be shown.

God uses others in big and small ways
He has handpicked you my friend, for so many rainy days.

This hasn’t been easy, some many painful truths I have faced
I wouldn’t trade a moment of it for the peace I feel in this place

One might think or call us uncommon friends
We were not created by common circumstances, but by his two hands

Two hands, two hearts, one awesome God we serve
That is a friendship to treasure, one I don’t deserve

Darkness I have seen, with an angel always by my side
But god has been very clear to ME you aren’t just along for the ride

So my friend, it is your turn to let me hold your hand,
To help guide you through this journey and show you all God has planned

I will be by your side to cheer you along,
To help brighten your day, when everything goes wrong.

When you are weak, I will help you to stand tall
I will reach out my hands to cushion your fall

To pick up the pieces, I always promise a good laugh
to remind you of your friends who intercede on your behalf

As life carries on and sometimes doesn’t make sense
I will prayer for you, encourage you, and be on the defense

When doubts creep in and nights feel way to long
Remember to stop and know you are right where you belong

In a ministry to serve and help others in need
To glorify god in every good and perfect deed

I am starting to see a new journey in this place
Filled with sunshine all around and smiles on our face

From despair you brought me to a place I have so longed
Resting in my Lord, my Savior, is right where I belong

And for some reason, that I cannot answer why
God has given me a blessing, my friend by my side

I praise God for you and the life you are living
I praise God for you and all that you have given

I am so thankful, humbled, and speechless at times
For the awesome God we serve who is in your heart and mine

As I continue on this journey, one we call life
I have been given a priceless gift, a sister in Christ!
