Love’s Good-bye

Contributed by deadwriter on Tuesday, 23rd March 2010 @ 09:14:24 AM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

Love’s Good-bye

Lightning flashes across the skies
As tear drops leave streaks from her eyes
I run my fingers through her hair with the back in a braid
Wiping away her tears I whisper in her ear, please do not be afraid

I know our time together seemed like it would never end
Though we both know some illnesses you just can not mend
Let me hold you and kiss you and love you until the morning’s light
With the knowledge that time is short, I may not make another night

My love for you is like none I had ever known before
From the start I felt it would last forever more
I believed my prayers would be answered, but who knew?
He would send me an angel like you. I Love You.

dw, this is both beautiful and just completely heartbreaking. I am at a loss for words. To find the love of a lifetime only to have to say good bye, has to be the most unforgiving torture known to man. This was wonderfully written with all the emotion that I've come to expect from you.
