Mystic Wonderland

In the darkness we play a game
Giggling and laughing like kids again
Chasing and spinning and pretending
A beautiful nighttime wonderland
Set aside for just you and I
And when the sun rises we return
To the world of adults
Painfully I say goodbye
Until next time when I can laugh with you again
In the dark where my red cheeks aren't shown
And the shaking of my hands isn't noticeable
Fireflies dancing all around our mystic playground
We're 12 again, best friends
And you're my first love once more
A dream of make-believe
In those hours filled with stars I can close my eyes
And we're together instead of just friends
Words not to be uttered
For they will break the illusion
And this magic bubble of bliss will burst
Never to re-establish itself again
So allow me to hold tight
At least to my imaginary land of dreams
And when the sun rises we'll part ways once more
While I bathe in the morning sun
Praying we will meet again
In our mystic wonderland
