Like the milkweed butterfly just for a day
That’s all she gets.
To weave her splendor, to bring about the “butterfly effect”
To be born in the morning and retire that night
Everything to see, four seasons one flight.
Having life for a day not a second to spare
To live for the moment no caution, no fear
With wings so tender, gentle, and calm
Flapping in perfect motion, and off Africa’s coast
A storm is born.
To have tasted the sunshine and caressed the breeze
A life’s journey in a day is squeezed.
With nature so peculiar, perfect and true,
I’ll give up eternity, to live just that one day with you.
