YOUR LIFE

Contributed by chrisdavid on Saturday, 20th March 2010 @ 02:47:33 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

This is your life
You're not getting any richer
You've been painting that picture
Since I don't know when
It seems a lifetime
You've been stood there with your bottle of wine
You want to paint what your eyes have seen
Since the age of ten

When you've sang a million different songs
Seen a thousand rights go wrong
How can you stay in the right frame of mind?
When the snow falls on a summers day
And the wind has blown your hopes away
All you ask is for a little more time

This is your life
Your imagination is the key
Think back to when you were wild and free
And let your hands do the rest
See it through, oh see it through
Now you've got work to do
You've been given a talent
For painting you are blessed

Do you think the fire burning will add a touch of class
The sun appearing through that pane of glass
The scene could be the break of dawn
Put some sheep upon the hills
Add some colour as the picture builds
A star is born

This was your life
And now you're no longer with us
Your work's made a fortune
You just needed a break
What I said was true
I never lost my faith in you
I'm glad you saw it through
But now it's too late

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
