Afraid of shadows that awaken my soul,
Push me under until I am lost!
Dreams that torture bind me to hell,
My mind at night a brutal host.
Eyes stapled shut by thoughts that whirl,
Men burn alive without bodies!
Awaken me from this jumbled nightmare,
And those pale, grotesque ladies.
Sweat runs down skin that blankets my spine,
I will know of in hours when I leave here.
A monstrous bird pecks at my toes,
An earthquake erupts and I know not where!
Destruction slowly disappears,
By the staples coming loose.
A mother’s voice reassures,
Shaking my shoulders, pinching my foot.

An extremely powerful write. Sometimes the night can bring much fear form nowhere and everywhere. Thank you for sharing this.

I liked this too. Especially the ending where the mother's physical interaction influenced the content of the dream. Another good job. |
