We ended around a year ago
On a bitter, lonesome day
We exchanged a few harsh words
Then promised we’d stay friends
Months rolled by with no contact made
So to hear your voice was a surprise
Your voice still so smooth and sweet
We talked forever like old times
Several months have passed since then
You and I talking off and on
The subject of “US” not touched
So today when you asked if I missed US
I was caught a bit off guard
You left me speechless
But deep in thought
You assumed my silence as a no
Though my answer was definitely yes
So now you got me thinking
My mind keeps drifting to you
I remember you kisses
It has been so long since our last
I expect the memory to be fuzzy
Just a little blurred
So when the memory appears to me
As if it were yesterday
And your taste still lingers on my lips
My breath is taken away
And I long for your loving hand
To touch mine once again
So please forgive me for your broken heart
Allow me to help it mend
What I’m saying is
I cant stand us being apart
I still love you
You are still in my heart
