A NEW BEGINNING

When I awoke this morning it was not yet dawn,
My first thought was knowing I was not at home,
All the surroundings were so unfamiliar,
Then came the tears as I began to remember.

The life I once had with you was now through,
You had found another love,finally now I knew,
Just outside the window of this lonely hotel,
An early train was passing on miles of iron rails.

I opened the curtains to stare as it passed by,
Then I turned away and breathed a deep sad sigh,
My life as I had known it for so many years,
The realization of the changes I faced brought many fears.

Walking outside as the sun began to rise,
I straightened my shoulders and lifted my head high,
Then I made plans that didn't include you,
From deep inside a voice said ...I will begin a new..
