I pray silently

Memories flashed before my eyes
All the good times, the bad, and the lies
As I stood before the freshly dug ground
I thought about all the good times we had found
When we were young, the good ole days
The way you had touched me so deeply in so many ways
I remember once that we swore that we'd never lose each other
Or leave to befriend another
Oh how I wish life were that simple
That all our problems would vanish like a tiny pimple
Of course that's not true
And I knew that never again would I see you
Never again will you help me when I am down
And make me smile when all I'd wanna do is frown
I knew the flowers I held in my hand
Would never make amends
For what I have now
But for you God didn't allow
As I stood before the large gray stone
That would now serve as your new cold home
I prayed silently that your rest would be a peaceful one
That your hard work will finally be done

This is a very moving poem...very much in the same mood as Bocelli's "Resta Qui!", until the "large gray stone". |

This was very touching. I really liked it. I can empathise(sp?) with this quite a bit. Great write. |
