As a tomcat treaded a derelict and sordid alley,
he came upon a trashed mirror.
Mistaking his semblance for another feline,
he crouched and sluggishly went nearer.
He rounded his back and hissed,
endeavoring to make the other flee.
To his astonishment though,
it did the same as he.
In reprisal,
he elevated his paw and swatted.
Assuredly he'd decamp from that.
Yet the other, without trepidation and in concert,
swatted back.
Awaiting the other's tactic,
he stood peering him down.
No longer amused,
he left the crimp,
but stopped and turned back around...
Pussy!

Wow. I liked the message of your poem, but that ending made me laugh. It was well versed, fun, as well as thought provoking. In a word: great. |

I like the concept behind this poem of a cat attacking its own shadow as we sometimes can't accept traits in others as they are mirroring us |
