Certainty of Death

Certainty of Death

I tried the other day to say my final good-byes
But the words would not form for the tears in my eyes
Knowing full well you would tell me it is not the way
My heart though can not survive another single day

Needing to explain things so you would understand
This decision is mine and will be only on my hands
All options were explored, no stone left unturned
Red flags were raised for help, but no message was returned

Saying farewell is never an easy thing to do
It is a million times harder with someone as special as you
Life gives no promises, the only certainty is death
Let me say “I Love You”, with my final breath

The last two lines of your poem said it all, " Life gives no promises, the only certainty is death. Let me say “I Love You”, with my final breath." Indeed life itself rarely goes the way we want it to; in fact, none of what we experience in this world is gaurenteed etc. Beautiful piece here. Thanks for sharing it with the rest of us.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
