What's the taste of an orange?
What's the sound of the sea?
What makes life a living hell,
And what might set you free?
What is the touch of a hand?
What is the warmth of a kiss?
What distinguishes between
An ordinary bliss.
What is the cool of water?
Who is the morning breeze?
Can you tell me what they are,
Or are they none of these?
Are poems lived or written?
This, I cannot say.
All I know is what I know
I can feel for today.

What great thought provoking questions. I believe that feeling IS knowing, but knowing isn't always feeling. Knowing what moves a heart doesn't touch it; only feeling does. And in poetry, those two go hand in hand. Knowing what to write will not move your reader; but if the poet feels what he/she writes....truly feels it, the reader will be moved. It's involuntary. But beware, emotion is not enough. The poet can't just have an emotion and expect to convey that without knowing what words will exact the feeling to his/her reader. There is a delicate balance of truth here, but not everyone will get it.
Good post. Wonderfully inciting.
