The Cow Did What?

Hey diddle diddle,
And into the riddle, involving a fiddling cat
A high jumping cow, jumping over A moon
And a dish making a getaway with a spoon.
And not forgetting a laughing canine
together forming a story divine.
But lets go back to the very beginning,
To find out why the cat was playing.
And the cause for this you soon will see,
Was to win a music competition .... y
While the music swirled from this cats fiddle.
It began to make peoples feet start to shuffle.
Including a cow in a nearby field
Who suddenly danced and pranced and wheeled
Now the farmer of the cow who was called Mr Moon,
Started to play a ditty on the his silver spoons
Now the cow pranced to the fine fiddle music
Until its dancing moves became hectic
For a cow is not designed to dance you must agree
and tripped over the farmer quite accidentally.
So the stumbling cow jumped over Mr Moon
The farmer falling throwing from his hand a spoon
The spoon being made of solid silver
Caught the eye of a local bugler
Have you noticed silver is a hard word to rhyme?
I digress, lets just go back to the crime,
For this criminals name was Mr Dish
Yeah, I'm sure you can see where I'm going with thi...sh
So Mr Dish picked up the silver spoon
And thought “I need to make a getaway soon”.
While all this was going on
the cat was coming to the end of the song.
The judges gave the cat a standing cheer
BRAVO! BRAVO! Could be heard far and near
And the dog on the judging panel laughed
And said “Its been a long time since I've heard such craft!
And even though you are of feline persuasion
you most definitely deserve this standing ovation.
So now you all know,
the true rhymes flow
For it was a criminal who stole the spoon
And no cow has ever jumped over THE moon
You really thought a cow made it to space?
Actively taking part in the great space race?
No I'm afraid that's simply not true
Ask any cow and in agreement it would ummm .... moo
But the cat did play the fiddle so well
That even a dog came under its spell
So finally this tale has come to and end
And the rhyming has not been totally my friend
But now the time has come and I must stop
And these scanning words I can now firmly .... let go of!

Clever and witty
this was thoroughly enjoyable
even if you one isn't completely familar
with said nursery ryhme,it's great to be able to laugh
this passage was comedic brought a smile to my face
I especially loved the title

| Man, that took some work - to compose, not to read. I mean, for starters, you had to read the original. It was really enjoyable. |
