Driving slowly, following you
Dreading the arrival
Because that’s the day I dreaded my whole life
The day I thought about when I was younger whilst I tried to sleep
I used to cry about because I was terrified of losing you
I never thought the day would come so soon
The day I had to let go and accept it
Getting closer, until we’re here
Tears fall down my face
People outside standing in a line of pain
Staring at me, the look of sympathy drowning their faces
They had no idea of the pain I felt
I had no idea, I didn’t know what this feeling was
Four strangers carry you in
Everyone follows behind
Your favourite song’s playing in the background
The taste of tears as they trickled slowly down my cheeks
I just wanted it to be over
But it went so slow
I just wanted her to shut up
I didn’t want reminding of what was happening
I just wanted to say goodbye and go home
But I knew whatever I did nothing would change it
I didn’t want to accept it
But I just sat there, my heart shattering into a thousand pieces
I just left them, I couldn’t pick them up because you’ve left me
So they’ll always be missing
You broke it.
Because nothing in the world will let me see you again
You’ve been cruelly snatched away from me
Even though I knew it was going to happen
I pushed it to the back of my head thinking it was ok
Thinking it wasn’t going to happen
Even though that was impossible
My life has never been the same
I just want you
I need you
But, I suppose that’s life, we’re born, we live
We die.
