Standing on the edge, twisted and gnarled.
Like a tree that’s caught in perpetual storm.
Above me unknown, below me the void.
Into which I seam to fall.
Bit by bit,…Piece by piece…..
Blown by the winds of circumstance
towards a new life.
Looking up, I feel naked, afraid, exposed.
No new charade,…
No new cloak,…
Only possibility.

Looking down I can see,…All the pieces of me.
Like dead leaves in the wind.
Blowing haphazard.
Useless now…
Discarded now…
Remnants of an old cloak I no longer need.
I’ll equipped I feel.
Re-entering this life without
my old protective shroud.
The very thing that has blocked,
my view of the world.

Peering out from beneath my fresh new leaves.
Tender and fragile.
I squint at the sudden flood of light.
Bright and warm.
Full of promise and encouragement.
I feel humbled and insignificant.
In the face of all that is, and all that could be.

And so I emerge from the storms of my past.
Able to perceive the world from a wider,…
Fuller,…more realistic perspective.
I am aware now of how the world has sculpted me.
Molded me,… into the complex person that I have become.
As it does with us all,…in time.
But with this new consciousness,…
comes also a flood of practicality.
And an unrelenting awareness
of all the things left un-said and un-done,…
and the urge to make up for lost time.

Perhaps I’m done, with the guarded glance, and clever rebuke.
Perhaps I’m done, pushing away the things that I need..
Perhaps with this new insight,…this new clarity.
I’ll create a life in which I am not my own worst enemy.
A life in which self punishment has no place.
Perhaps a life in which joy and prosperity,…
are attainable and achieved.

What an honest open heartfelt Appraisal of life at thejunction of change where self realisation has opened eyes to the expectation of hope and a better more fulfilled life,Great imagery in this, the nakedness and vulnerability, the newness....fresh new leaves and then the change....ill create a life in which I am not my own worst enemy. well written

very well written, I can feel the fear and vulnerability when I read it, and the hope of something better to come if you have the courage
