In the dark of the night, I awake,
To the creaking noise of the rusted gate,
Attached to the fence that surrounds my little house.
Someone’s coming who doesn’t belong,
Up the sidewalk and across the lawn,
Seeking cover in the shadows near my house.
He’s looking for a window that’s open a crack,
Thoroughly checking from front to back,
Trying to find a way inside my house.
He’s a criminal intent on committing a crime.
The target he’s chosen just happens to be mine,
He wants to steal the things that I have in my house.
He carries a knife which if forced to, he’ll use,
In a battle he doesn’t intend to lose,
With whomever he should encounter, living inside my house.
If only he knew that once inside,
There’ll be no place for him to hide,
From the cold blooded killer waiting for him in my house.
