I Can't Resist

Contributed by Ambivalence on Monday, 22nd February 2010 @ 08:23:04 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I succeeded in the suppression
of nearly all my emotions.
I strived to find peace that way
by burying them so deep within
having no pain, no fear, no faith,
my ultimate freedom from this reality.

Yet, I felt so cold, lost, and empty...

Then, one day you came along
and so did my rare smile.
I tried suppressing this familiar mysterious warmth creeping inside,
but I didn't succeed this time!
If I didn't have these feelings for you, I'd might as well be a walking robot,
but you made me realize that I'm not.
What it means to be human, I almost forgot.
The heart is such a terrible thing to waste.
There is nothing worse than this unforgivable crime.

So I ask, "Would you like to go out with me sometime?"

I'm glad you wrote this poem. So often we try to defend ourselves from being hurt by shutting people and emotions out of our lives, but while doing that we miss important relationships. You caught that truth so very well.

a sweet little write with such a heartwarming last line. :) And done with the
poetic flare that I can always find in your work. Wonderful post, my friend.
