WHY?

Why?
Am I standing all alone?
If only I had known
I wouldn't have wasted my time with you
Why?
Is this the end and not the start?
I have a broken heart
What else am I to do?
And why does the moon shine so bright?
And the stars make everything feel so right?

Why?
Do I think what could have been?
Do I dream the same dream?
And I convince myself I never knew
I see the life I could have had
Now I just feel so sad

Tell me why?
When I look back to those years
You were close to tears?
But you never asked me 'Why?'
When I said to you 'Goodbye'

Why?
When I see your face again
After thirty years of pain
Can you say anything that is true?
I've said all I'm going to say
Because I no longer yearn for yesterday

Why?
Have I set myself the task?
To never again ask...
Why?
