I'll Remember Forever

Topic: Lifepoems

I'm alone and scared,
in this mystifying ordeal.
They've dragged me into it,
this feels surreal.

This "they" I speak of,
I do not know.
They've kept their identities,
on the down-low.

As reason for this,
I was never told why.
They did remind me though,
they promised me I would die.

Sitting in this dark canal,
has provoked my inner thoughts.
How should I get out of this,
for these bindings have no faults.

Then at this point,
I hear a sound of footsteps.
They're far away,
they're from this cave's deepest depths.

A man approaches me,
a man dressed in white and blue.
He is holding a gun,
there is nothing I can do.

He unties my bindings,
and notions me over.
He lays in my hands.
A four-leaf clover.

It's a symbol of peace,
for I am free to go.
but once I leave this chamber,
then comes the final show.

This holding cell,
is a representation of my safety.
For once I leave,
outside is where they'll kill me.

I can only hope,
and only pray.
That I live to see,
just one more day.

There's no avoiding it,
I must go out.
I'll face my fears,
but overcome them I doubt.

As I hastily sprint,
I swing open the door.
I run for my life,
across this dirt laden floor.

It's humid and torrid,
but I must push through.
There's more on the line,
than I originally knew.

I fall to my knees,
onto the ground.
I've gotten away,
never to be found.

Words can't describe,
what I'm feeling right now.
I'm out of this predicament,
out of this mordacious vow.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
