What Has Changed

Nostalgic

Small-town movie theatres
are shut down,
with thanks on their marquees
to the customers who stopped coming.
My son senses sarcasm
behind the messages.
Abandoned factories,
weed-grown and brick-baked,
eerily imposing
in the summer heat and haze.
There are no music stores.

excellent capture of urban decay. Yes, the music and the laughter's gone; the water has run dry... I've walked these streets too, but sometimes an oasis can bloom.
I'm glad I found you tonight.
