I sit alone in this room,
Staring blankly at this wall,
I am remembering times of love,
And times I was appalled.
I see us laughing all the time,
Your hand sometimes in my hair,
How it turned lonely, and cold,
And how you were never there.
I remember the flowers,
The dates and the kisses,
Now there's nothing left,
But empty, hollow wishes.
I look at our children,
Think about how i hate to make them cry,
But this just isn't working,
And I am tired of living this lie.
Today will be goodbye,
And tomorrow hopefully new,
Maybe I can sleep tonight,
And finally let go of you.

After reading "Last Goodbye" I was drawn to this one. That last stanza is so painful, just for the sheer power of the last line. It's excruciating how some can hold our hearts, nay our very souls, even when there is absolutely no hope. Maybe moreso when there is no hope. But every day is a new day. Every day is a chance for a better happiness. And speaking from experience, I know it always looks like the gloom will overpower. And sometimes it will. Poems like this help to release it, otherwise it'll end up trapped and never leave.
Good luck to you.
*hugs*
Seléne ~
