If a rose could speak
What would it say?
Nothing compares to me
I’m beautiful in every way?
Or- you’re only here
When the sun shines
But when the sky darkens
Of you, there are no signs
When the wind howls
And the snow threatens to fall
I am left imprisoned
Behind your hand-made brick wall
You refuse to see my thorny steams
Only my purple, plump, petal mask
Instead of a crystal vase, you alternate
Between leaving me and stuffing me in a cheap ol’ cask
My roots trap me to this world
Stopping me from withering away
Though you still love me, and I you
You’ll still be the end of me one day…

I really like this...
The way you have used the analogy of a beautiful yet fragile rose in anguish.
Cleverly written.....

So often, rhyming sounds forced and hackneyed, but you used it skillfully: never obtrusive and definitely Well done. I like the extended metaphor |
