my one regret

Often I lay awake at night
With the past to trouble my sleep
Regrets like water flood my mind
Through their currents my heart is drowning
Where are you now? Do you sleep alone?
Is my darkness your companion?
Cause shadows don’t lie; they just reflect
In their mirror we are a dancing
The ghost of you haunts my bed like a lover
Filled with the weight of what should have been
My wedding ring you never wore
I only see you because you’re not there
I bend my time & it breaks my back
For this load I can no longer carry
Shrug I may & do I might
So full of you I am empty inside
