I embarked on the trip but must’ve gotten lost along the way
Look for the crossroads where five fingers intersect
Study topography of palms trying to find the lifeline
I know that look like the back of my hand
On last legs to let longitudes lattidudes and dual attitudes
Ascend snow capped sumitts to dive headfirst into the heartbeat
Find the coveted breeding pools while the world around us flatline
pedeatric police put youth in revolt under cardiac arrest
and we call it all too natural to inject plaster in pulmonary pleasantries
pick a poisoin step on up let young bloods run cold
let clergy turn it to water
the bonds of family shall hold no more sway than faucet drips
that keep me up at night
but the truth will burst to the surface and spurt like a severed artery
try not to entangle oneself in the precious peripherals of the predator
waste deep in couagluated serenity
cannot seem to wade back to the surface streets
cannot learn to touch your pulse
cannot seem to see beyond the blood brain barrier
scary that our world is bleeding
send me a tournaquet
give me your cellulose
let me borrow some of that spirituality
I have aspirations to be the soggy bandaid
An inconvenient inescable brown jelly fish
That floats around in the community pool
I scratch scabs
Because I’m interested in the saying beauty is only skin deep
If we as a people hide our ugliness as well as we hope we do
I’m surprised that blood isn’t black
Its’ hard to face the fact
in truth none of us will make the full trip back
