Waiting

Topic: Lifepoems

What things are there for one to do
while waiting to meet someone new?
What satisfaction can be be had
from prenteding not to be sad?
When spring has sprung in the lands
all people want to do is hold hands.
Couples in my face all day long
makes my soul want to sing its song:

'Although love looks hard and trying
and seems to cause only pain and crying
why do people put themselves there,
in the position of being able to care?
To lay their hearts on the line and say
"Ill risk everything for you today!"
Its because although being single is bearable
most people find it a fashionably unwearable.'

So every time I go for the chase
it ALWAYS blows up fully in my face
and im left with a sadness deep inside
another loser been taken for a ride.
The lesson I have learned is not to try
(the sad conclusion of a lonely guy).
Constant failure due to bad luck or fate?
More likely that everything was my mistake.

So I've given up, I'm finished, that's it, no more,
the thrill of the chase doesn't appeal to me anymore.
All I can do is spend all my time waiting for change.
Once it does, hopefully happiness will be in range.
But waiting can be a very lonely game,
having no one to play with can be a pain.
So I find different activities to occupy me,
all the time wondering: free will, or destiny?

i can tell you have the mind of a philosopher! this is a great write - really heartfelt and so true - "Its because although being single is bearable, most people find it a fashionably unwearable" << you really highlight the shallowness of teen society.

excellent poem and trust me, you will find someone who appreciates you for who you are. and have a good summer, i leave school this summer too - bring on uni! keep writing, Kate x
