Dinner with a stranger

Contributed by konswa on Saturday, 16th January 2010 @ 11:50:09 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

In a gloomy room that the hope fears
where people can't cry except bloody tears
A table was there with only two seats
where life and happiness never meets
while screams are the soundtrack of the scene
and dead bodies on the ground have been
and a fresh heart on a plate is there
a meal for a beast of a shape eyes can't bare
eating in relish while blood flows on his tongue
then feeling its smell running in his lung
looked at me and in savageness he smiled
as a snake that finally found his prey in wild

" why people fear you " I asked
" because with their life they think they are basked "
the answer came in a rough voice
" as when I come they always have no choice
or maybe they know their deadly fate
then I appear and it becomes too late
to repent or even to do any good
and then everything appear to be a falsehood
for example that heart is my favorite kind
full of sins and from truth it was blind "
" so you take only the dirty hearts " I said
" although the one who is lost is the one who will dread
but I am something predestined ahead
and no one remains alive and no one won't be dead "
That was his answer and then he went away
like a flame of a candle in the middle of a day

It seems he is not the devil or even a beast
and he wasn't about to eat me at least
I got another chance to breathe another breath
as I invited for my dinner none other than the death

Having dinner with death a great theme to use and as a result strong imagery and the questioning of faith and the devil as part of this all contributes to its darkness well written

I really dig the idea of this poem.
