Our divorce is like a dark predator
It hunts
It has teeth. They are white and glisten
It smiles and means to bite
Your black wings are my safety
My energy
My love
My self
How do I give you up?
Why, even?
It is so easy to return
To yield - the delicious control
That tells me I love above all else only you
And I miss you now
And there is nothing that replaces you
And nothing that secures my freedom
You ask when
I say not today
You persist. You insist.
I say maybe tomorrow
Or the next day
Maybe.
If I am lucky. And strong.
Never.

Strength in the poem depicting the struggle but also the deception.....your black wings are my safety, that which makes you feel safe and secure is there to destroy you. I also like the predator element waiting for you to weaken and enticing you in.well written |

I really like this and the bit about "delicious control" is a really good description. |
