The Eagles Chains

I once saw a vision of an eagle bound not free,
chained to the earth beside a stone and it wept so bitterly
A creature of poise and beauty, of power strength and grace
yet to see it bound so helpless; in such an awful place.
I watched this creature struggle against chains which held it bound
it stretched it's wings to find the sky, yet freedom could not be found
I'm so much like this eagle, each links a seperate fear
for fear grows links which keep us bound though freedom is so near
I long to raise my spirits wings, with power leave the ground
but much like the lowly eagle, through fear I have been bound
If only for a moment, if only I could be, free from fear and the chains now forged
if I could only see...
But just one glimpse of freedom and the strength within to fly
to be so like the eagle as it soars across the sky
Then maybe I could gather the strength to break the fear
then little bit by little bit, the eagle would shed no tears.
