RUNAWAY GIRL Pt. 1

Contributed by Daylynn_Van_Wyk on Sunday, 3rd January 2010 @ 01:59:37 AM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

A one way ticket to better days,
Her great escape she thought
away from simplicity and frays.

Her mother had vanished years ago
and her drunken father couldn't care less
as long as his glass was full,
yet he secretly shed tears
gazing upon an empty ring,
which rested within a rusty head dress.

Her mother was graceful,
sweet to the core
her touch healed any pain.
Her father struggled when she left
changing to lesser than a knight
a strange figure, a sponge for the blame.

Her saved up money; the gift for today,
she didn't care for tomorrow
as she drove to a random destination
intense doubt surrounded her,
but tears, anger and rage were stronger.

She reminisced through passing hours,
a lost smile broke from a hardened shell.
Running around playing with her parents
on their Sunday walks through the park...
That's how the memory played,
a moment in time
longing to relive
wishing her mother would have stayed.

She cursed at her mother
her heart ached for a reason.
She was hours away from home
in the backyard of the cruel world,
the big city lights lured her
a moth to a lethal flame,
her pure essence faded in the night...

An overwhelming gravitational pull really swirls around these words of yours.
So dark and defeated, a sordid pain beyond measure.....
Superbly written, I look forward to part 2!
