From A Fraction of My Heart

Topic: LostLove

A shy boy once sat kittycorner to me,
I wonder if you remember his smile.
His skeleton's here, but his heart is missing,
By now it's been lost for a while.

Together we planned to save the world,
But we flooded it with our souls debris.
You'll remain in my memory as that innocent face
Fore I broke your heart, ere you betrayed me.

I hope my scars are engraved in your mind
Like your wretched lies are in mine.
I know you intended to fulfill those words,
But those hopes are long left behind.

Now I miss those nights you'd sleep next to me.
I could taste your skin and your snore.
These things we always took for granted,
I hope - I know - you miss them more.

I wasted summer days on you,
And paper, minutes, thought, advice.
I say that now with an angry smirk
To the ghost of the person I grew to like.

This battle henceforth is a dirty disgrace
And we've lost what we're fighting to free.
I've got to let go with blood-creased knuckles,
As you said: "It's just the way it has to be."

This is fantastic.. It really captures the emotion. I really feel like I understand it. Wonderfully written.
Take care.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
