My First Dance

Contributed by brittany24 on Thursday, 31st December 2009 @ 10:32:25 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

You danced with me
Held me close and twirled me around the dance floor
Your hands perfectly positioned on my waist
You dipped me and led me through all of the complicated steps
Steps none of my other dance partners could master
What is your name?
Love you say
Love, my perfect dance partner
But the song has nearly ended
The night is falling away
Why did you wait for the last song to ask for my hand?
I'm not ready to stop dancing!
Will you be back?
Can we ever dance together again?
Well, here is where I will wait
The middle of the dance floor
I will dance alone, but I will never leave
I will be here always
So when you are ready, you can find me
And this time we will finish our dance

This is beautifully written,
A very atmospheric piece, well done!

Oh, I love the metaphor in this. How wonderfully sad, but still filled with hope. I hope you get that dance again and that you finish it. We all deserve that. It's the least this world can offer us. :) Take care
