Six-thirty wednesday evening here
vampire wind winter-full outside
pouring myself friday night inside
today is going to pay for it all now
Our place is just an empty mess
time-battered bamboo chimes thunk
sad-echoed footsteps fade away
no-more-concern imbibed tonight
Cigarette-fogged clock pushes late
breeze-rattled leaves race raucously
cheap-bottle brown-diamond dance
a lonely waltz with a two-timed beat
Four-thirty thursday morning somehow
thunks and rattles numbed to silent
blinking-alarm complaints all snoozed
just didn't like that job anyway-sleep
Tomorrow's another day, maybe
can't be as noisy as yesterday
with her I-found-another whisper
yesterday is gone and so is she
