All For You

Contributed by ChaosFactor on Tuesday, 29th December 2009 @ 09:04:10 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

You tell me to talk but I can’t speak
Knowing that you’re there with me.
I can’t think with you by my side;
How can you not see what’s behind my smile?
I hate lying; I’d show you if you cared to know
Just how far I was willing to go.
Carved in my skin, not feeling a thing,
Still think there’s something to that feeling.
I’m waiting for you to see the common design
So cleverly hidden behind my rhymes:
If all that I think about is you,
Shouldn’t it make sense that’s for you too?
This is what you can never know,
And that is why I will never show.
Your love is a lie,
Your compassion shall hide.
Always thought you were invincible,
Now I know you’re something more.
You’re strong, why can’t you see
That the reason you’re here could be to save me?
But no, I can’t be so selfish;
What would you want with shallow me?
Now this panic grows and I can’t breathe.
That’s right, that’s why you’ve never saved me.
All I do is hurt myself;
I don’t know how to do anything else.
I wish I could explain to you how important you are,
But that would be pushing it a little too far.
What I want more than anything is just to hear
That you know what I do and that you care.
Now I can’t focus, why can’t I see
That the only thing I need is to be free?
But I do see it, I know it every day.
I just keep looking for reasons to stay.
I wish you knew how hard this was
Not to start fighting, to stop messing up.
Thoughts just keep rushing, spinning out of control;
Going and going with nothing to show.
Do I leave or do I stay?
Please God just keep me here for one more day.
I can’t leave yet, why can’t you see
That I need them and I think they might need me?

But still this voice in my head,
The one I’ve ignored, and heard only with dread,
Whispers to me, as loud as a scream
“You know you’ll only be free when you leave.
You can’t love, you’re broken, not worth it.
You know what happens when you care too much.
You’ll lose control, they can’t ever know
That you’ll leave because you love them,
Yet you love them because they know.”

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
