I want you to kill me; I’m praying for peace,
Anything to quiet the demon inside of me.
I can’t let it rest; it won’t break free.
God please save me from the darker side of me.
Through the night my demon cries
Filling me with the blackest of lies.
I wish it were that simple, I wish that you could see
That all I ever wanted was for you to need me.
“You break everything you touch;
No wonder they all scream.
You kill the things you love;
The only thing you live for is me.”
I must confess, he tempts me so
Much that I find it hard to let go.
I love you more than words can say;
I just pray you don’t throw it all away.
The pain I feel within this life
Is more than I should ever hide behind the lie.
I need you now, to need me again:
God, I need to be that trusted friend.
